Wednesday August 29th: final haircut before The Day. I meant to put this idea to Adrian last time, and bottled out, but this time I was more or less nudged into it by him asking me what I wanted to do, so I asked if we could try something different. I think he was a bit taken aback, but I explained that I wanted an "elegantly dishevelled" look, a bit like Carol Klein on Gardener's World, and he thought a bit, and said yes, it would suit me, and he wouldn't do it if it didn't (there are definite advantages to having been to the same hairdresser for fifteen years). I didn't think it would affect the cut, but that just shows how much I know ... Twenty minutes later, I'm wishing I'd had the courage to suggest this ages ago! Adrian did make me promise, though, that I won't come up with any more major changes between now and next Friday.
Llandudno League Committee Meeting this evening: all fairly uneventful, except that I did have to try fairly hard not to fall out with Peter over his unflattering comments on my team and which division we should play in next season. It helps that I know he probably won't remember most of what he said next time we talk about it, so I think I can probably still walk into church beside him without simmering! Anyway, we got to AOB, and Peter worked round the table as usual, coming to Jules last, and Jules seized the opportunity to announce the Wedding of the Year. There was actually a round of applause! More than that, Jeff Nicholls offered his Jag free of charge to take me to church (he does weddings fairly regularly) which is so kind of him. It's not something I would have sought out, but having had it offered, I would quite like to accept, especially as I think Jeff would really like to do it. Trouble is, I have absolutely no idea what (if anything) Peter has planned, and to be honest I'm not even sure if he's planning to come and pick me up from home, or if I need to make my own way to church. I am going to have to bite the bullet and ask him.
