Friday August 31st: Sioned came up this morning, to look at the roses, check the colours of the kaftan and Jules' tie, and determine how many of my carafes she needs for table decorations. By an enormous stroke of good fortune, it looks as though quite a number of the roses will be in peak condition in time to be used; also sweet peas, rosemary, lavender and various grasses. I think Sioned is going to raid the garden next Thursday, but I'm very happy with that - can't think of anything nicer than to have all the flowers for the wedding taken from my own garden.
Went to pick Clo up this afternoon to take her down to the church to try out her reading (glandular fever fortunately turned out to be only very bad tonsilitis - phew!) As I expected, it was a bit too hurried to begin with, but she very quickly got the idea of taking a breath between paragraphs, and trying to go at least twice as slowly as she thought she ought to. It'll probably need to be three times as slowly on the day, when she's bound to be a bit nervous.
