Thursday July 12th: Alan was up again this week; we'd told him about the Grand Decision last time he was up, a month ago, and he says he would very much like to come, but is talking about driving up from Cardiff and back in the same day, which worries me a bit - it's a long way, and we're not likely to finish the meal at Brookhouse until 9.00pm at least, which means he wouldn't get home until something after 1.00am. Maybe it's the cost of overnight accommodation? I'm sure we could find somebody somewhere to put him up.
He asked about a wedding present, too; I explained about the rose idea, which seemed to surprise him: "most people want pots and pans"! Well, yes, but we've been acquiring pots and pans for years ... He'd like me to suggest a rose, which I'm sure won't be a problem!
