Wednesday August 22nd: Nia called to say that they think Chloe has glandular fever. Major blow; I can find someone else to read easily enough, but I would so much like her to be there, and if it's really glandular fever, she's likely to be out of it for five or six weeks. Blood tests back tomorrow - fingers crossed!!
On the plus side, Alan's rose arrived: I'd asked for Lady Emma Hamilton, which Jules & I saw at Tatton Park, and liked a lot. There are three buds on it, one of which at least looks as though it might be out in time to be part of my flowers on the day.
