Monday July 16th: Makeover on the Clinique counter at Debenham's in Llandudno, with Rhian. We were done one at a time, me first. I'd wondered if being "made over" in a public space would be a bit scary, but in fact once it started I didn't really notice other people. First thing, of course, was to clean off the makeup I'd put on this morning, and catching sight of myself in the mirror at that stage I thought "this is going to take a miracle of significant proportions ...", but it was amazing how much of a difference was achieved in such a short time. Lots of helpful advice and tips, as well, so I feel I really might be able to go home and attempt this myself; it was useful, too, to watch Rhian's turn, so I could see how it was done. I might be half-way good at it by September!! The cost of the various bits and pieces to do it was a bit eye-watering, but I guess it's once in a lifetime. The fascinating thing was how many cars seemed to stop for us to cross the road in Llandudno afterwards ...
I was coaching down in Denbigh at 6.30, and had to go and pick up Vic. She'd only been in the car about two minutes when she said "You look nice, Kath", then, hurriedly, "well, you always look nice ..." Quite tactful for eleven years old, I thought. Wasn't so sure about her next comment, which was "you smell like my nanna ..." Was that good, I wondered? She thought a bit, then said yes, she thought it was. I guess I'll have to take her word for it.
