Saturday August 4th: driving from Ruthin to Denbigh this morning, I had a sudden impulse to stop at St Dyfnog's, for a few minutes' peace. Good call: the more time I spend there, the more I find it a very restful place, and it's good, especially at present, to have a chance to collect my thoughts from time to time. There was somebody arranging flowers at the altar, and since she must, I assumed, be one of the "flower ladies" Sioned had mentioned, I waited until she had finished, then went up to say hello.
It is amazing - or perhaps 'amazing' is not the right word, but I am extremely touched every time it happens - how people I have never met before seem so delighted when I tell them that I am about to be married to someone I've lived with for more than twenty years. We talked for several minutes, then Judith wanted to know the date and time, and said she would make sure to remember it, if only to ensure that people don't arrive to clean the church in the middle of the wedding!
