Epilogue

Thursday, September 27th: actually, I'm not sure epilogue is the right word: it sounds a bit like an ending, and we're definitely not at the end! It's the end of this blog, though. Just remains for me to say a huge thank you to all the people who made the day so wonderful for us. Here goes:

  • to Tom and Debs, who've been friends for more than 40 years, and who were the first people we told. Thanks to Debs for reading so impressively, and especial thanks to Tom for such admirable multi-tasking in being our organist and one of the presiding ministers;
  • to Petal (Celia) and Frank, who've been friends for almost as long, and who have provided huge amounts of encouragement and moral support (not to mention alcoholic refreshment!) throughout all the preparations;
  • to Norma, who is far more of a friend than an aunt (thank goodness!!) and who made us a very splendid cake; thanks also to Julia (my cousin) who decorated it so expertly;
  • to Rhian, another provider of moral support - especial thanks for bearing me company in my search for a new image!
  • to Peter, who has never wound me up quite enough to make me think he wouldn't be the right man to give me away;
  • to Michael, who we didn't know very well when we started on this path, but who turned out to be an eminently approachable vicar;
  • to Chloe, for always being such a joy to coach over the last eight years (well, nearly always!) and for reading so beautifully;
  • to Adrian, for not throwing a complete wobbly when I requested a change of haircut ten days before the wedding, and for turning me out in prime style on The Day;
  • to Jeff, for so kindly providing the use of a posh car, and making it feel even more of an occasion;
  • to Karen, John, and the staff at Brookhouse, for providing such an excellent meal, and for looking after us so well;
  • to Stan, for taking so many brilliant pics;
  • to all our friends who travelled such distances to be with us.

I've left the best 'til last, of course:

  • to Jules, for still being there at my side after all these years;

    Of turning the world so it's facing the way that I'm going.

    Don't ever stop."
